Welcome to Sanny P's Sports Rant!

I literally live, breathe and sleep sports. I love sports. Some may call me a sports fanatic. If there is a sports related discussion or topic going on amongst friends and sometimes even strangers, I always have to put my two cents in. So, on the advice of my cousin, I decided to create this blog to share my sports musings with the world. If you love sports or me, follow along. And if you don't, don't bother me...I got a game to watch.

Day 2: The ridiculous divisional standings in the NFL......

It's two days before the Giants play their last game of the season in Washington. Whether or not the Giants make the postseason depends on the Giants beating the Skins AND the Bears beating the Packers this Sunday. Knowing full well that the Giants had their destiny in their own hands and SHOULD have beaten the Eagles two weeks ago and then beaten the Packers to ensure a playoff spot, I still think it's pretty ridiculous that a team that could and should (hopefully) end the season with a 10 and 6 record may not make it to the postseason. It is hard to have 10 wins in an NFL season especially in the NFC East. And with the way the divisions are set up, the Seahawks may make the postseason with a 7 and 9 record. Really? They deserve to make the postseason over the Giants?? Admittedly, the Giants haven't played the best football this year and basically crapped out the last two and half a quarter games. They lead the league in takeaways (YAY!) but also giveaways (BOO) which lets me know if the Giants weren't so busy shooting themselves in the foot this year, they might have ended the season with a 12 and 4 record or maybe even better. That being said, the Giants will win 10 (hopefully) games this year and if the division setup wasn't so retarded, the Giants should be playing in the postseason for the fifth time in 6 years. I think the NFL divisions should be set up more like the NBA conferences. Like have a NFC East and NFC West division as well as an AFC East and AFC West division. Then, the top teams of each big division record-wise should play in the postseason.  Just a thought.

Day 1: The day after the Big Blue letdown....

So....I wasn't going to blog about this because honestly I was trying to avoid talking about this game, if at all possible, for the rest of my life. But seeing how the game was such a complete and utter meltdown and seeing how this is day 1 of my blog, something must be said about it but I will try to keep it as short as possible as to not reopen any wounds that have begun healing.
All I have to say is, what the hell was that? Sometime between Manningham's "I just feel like tossing the ball over my shoulder for no reason" fumble and the "surprise" (and I put surprise in quotations because seriously how were the Giants unprepared for that) on-side kick, I found myself saying "Hmm..maybe I should turn the channel". But I also kind of felt like that stupid teenage girl in horror movies..you know the one I am talking about. The one who hears weird noises coming from the closet and continues to walk towards the creepy noise instead of turning around and running for her life? For whatever reason, I was drawn to the impending doom and like a train wreck that happens before you, I couldn't look away. I knew I was about to get stabbed by the serial killer in the closet but its as if I thought for a second, hmmmm..Maybe instead of attacking me, he'll give me a million dollars instead. I open the door and...nope..not a million dollars. I got to remember to trust my instincts next time.
One last thing to end this subject. I will say on record that I hate Michael Vick. Yes, I think he has redeemed himself and yes, I think he deserves a second chance but as long as he plays for the Eagles, he will always be Vick "The Puppy Smasher" to me. I hope a dog bites his ankles. Ok, I don't really mean that really. But I wouldn't cry if it happened.
